1 Timothy 5:16-21
Prayer- Open our hearts and open our minds and help us learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
16If any woman who is a believer has widows in her family, she should help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.
17The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,"[a] and "The worker deserves his wages."[b] 19Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. 20Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning.
21I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
Paul believes that church leaders should be rewarded and appreciated, and so do I. This may sound like a given, but many times criticism of leaders is stronger inside the church than from outside. People do not understand that leaders are not perfect humans, only Christ was that. Even the best teachers and leaders do not reach everyone. I, myself have fallen short on occasion. Because of this fact, leaders are bound to disappoint someone. Get over it! We Christians get enough flack from non-believers. We should lift up and reward each other.
That being said, even preachers, teachers and leaders should be held accountable. However, Paul insists that the church be very careful about accusations against leaders. But sin should be punished, even in the church.
Prayer- Lord- Help us reward, both spiritually and physically, our leaders, teachers and preachers. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
