A Bible study initially set up for alumni of the Senior Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin, Texas. Galatians 1:1-5

Relax, Read ands Reflect
Prayer-Lord, Open my heart and open my mind and help me learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
1Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— 2and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia:
3Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Paul likes to start his letters off with a greeting, just as we do today. Instead of saying "hello, what’s up?" he gives his credentials early. He tells the churches of this state (Galatia) who has sent him. Not a man or men-but Jesus, God who raised Jesus from the dead, and all the brothers with him. This letter is not a social call, but a reaction to some false teaching that has been going on in this area.
Jesus was sent to Earth to die for our sins, as a perfect sacrifice. Paul celebrates this right off the bat. He reminds the early Christians that they have been rescued by this, and not what they have done or what their ancestors have done. We also need to be reminded of this from time to time. Does your life and lifestyle reflect your thanks for being rescued? One way to do that is to give God the glory.
Prayer- Lord, Thank you for your grace and love. Thank you for the gift of Jesus. As we go through our earthly lives, help us remember that we are saved-rescued through You, and nothing else. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
