Ruth 2:20-23
Prayer- Lord, Open our heart and open our minds and help us learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
20 "The LORD bless him!" Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. "He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead." She added, "That man is our close relative; he is one of our kinsman-redeemers."
21 Then Ruth the Moabitess said, "He even said to me, 'Stay with my workers until they finish harvesting all my grain.' "
22 Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, "It will be good for you, my daughter, to go with his girls, because in someone else's field you might be harmed."
23 So Ruth stayed close to the servant girls of Boaz to glean until the barley and wheat harvests were finished. And she lived with her mother-in-law.
This is one of the main themes, Ruth is a foreign widow who is taking care of her old mother in law. She has been noticed by an available man, who is a kinfolk of the mother in law. Even though Ruth and Naomi’s life would be difficult, things had possibilities. God works is different ways. If Ruth had not thrown a fit to stay with Naomi, Naomi would probably would have starved to death. Boaz would still be looking for a wife and who knows what rif-raf Ruth would have been hooked up with.
Even in very simple stories, God does complex things. It could have been easy for any of the main characters in this story to give up hope. That is giving up on God. One of the great things about God is that anything is possible through him, and we can always be optimistic about our future.
Prayer- Lord, Thank you for always working in our lives. Help us to remember that great things can be ours, no matter what the present holds. Go-Fight-Win. Amen
