A Bible study initially set up for alumni of the Senior Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin, Texas. Genesis 16:11-16

Relax, Read and Reflect (3 R’s)
Prayer-Lord, Open my heart and open my mind and let me learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
11 The angel of the LORD also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, [

] for the LORD has heard of your misery.
12 He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward [
b] all his brothers."
13 She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen [
c] the One who sees me." 14 That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi [d] ; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered.
15 So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. 16 Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.
Hagar gave birth to Ishmael, but things would not get calm. He would be a wild ass of a man, and also the enemy of the Hebrew people. When we try to handle things by ourselves, we can things all messed up. Sarai gave her servant to her husband to try and give him an heir, Abram went along with the plan, and when things went wrong-did nothing. Hagar ran away from the problem, and as usual, that did not solve things. God, however can work good in all things.
When we try to make things work without God, they usually go bad-fast. When we turn to God for help and direction, things are done in God’s plan, and that is good.
Prayer-Lord, Help me remember that through you all things happen for good, and without you I am nothing. Go-Fight-Win. Amen
Things to do- Read Genesis 17:1-14.Remember to turn things over to God.
