Alumni Bible Study

A Bible study initially set up for alumni of the Senior Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin, Texas. It is our hope and our prayer that this study touches the hearts of those who participate and helps spread the love and grace of Our Lord and God. All who want to learn more about God are welcome

Matthew 5:14-16

Relax, Read and Reflect.
Prayer- Lord, open our hearts and open our minds and help us learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
"This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine." Jesus shines through us, his love is shown by our thoughts and our words. Again, consider Jesus’s times. No electricity, no batteries, and few windows, (if any) in their homes. Lamps were their only form of light. If they wanted to do anything inside or at night, they used lamps. So, it would be insane to hide the lamp.
If we are the way the world is exposed to Jesus, why would we hide? That would be crazy. We can not be quiet when we know the truth, we can not go along with the crowd when we know they are wrong. If we ignore others we are not shining, we are hiding the love of Christ, and that is crazy. Be radical- let your light shine.
Prayer- Lord, Help us be a beacon of light in today’s dark world. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
Viva Jesus!
