Alumni Bible Study

A Bible study initially set up for alumni of the Senior Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin, Texas. It is our hope and our prayer that this study touches the hearts of those who participate and helps spread the love and grace of Our Lord and God. All who want to learn more about God are welcome

Matthew 6:11-13

Relax, Read and Reflect
Prayer- Lord, Open our hearts and open our minds and help us learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Jesus continues to teach on prayer. By asking God for "our daily bread" we are not begging. We are realizing that all comes through God. Anything we are or will be is by God. We also ask for forgiveness, but Jesus stipulates that we should be forgiven AS we forgive. That puts the responsibility on us.
God does not lead us into temptation. He will allow Satan (the evil one) to tempt us from time to time. We are asking to be delivered from this. All Christians are tempted, all people are tempted. How we act on these temptations is where we need God’s help and strength. With God’s help, there is nothing we can not overcome. Without God, we can do very little.
Prayer- Lord, give us strength to forgive and strength to deal with Satan. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
Viva Jesus!
