Matthew 5:31-32

Relax, Read and Reflect
Prayer-Lord, Open our hearts and open our minds and help us learn. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
31"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'[

] 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.
Marriage is the ultimate commitment we can give to one another, therefore should not be entered into lightly. Once we make this commitment, this bond should never be broken. Jesus wants us to be true to our commitments. Even is Jesus’s day, marriage was OK until someone new or better came along. Then the marriage could be broken for lustful purposes. We know how Jesus feels about lust, so it goes to reason he does not accept divorce.
Jesus lists marital unfaithfulness as the only reason for divorce, so that means adultery-right? No, not necessarily. Jesus is using unfaithfulness as any immoral lifestyle, and that is big! If a partner acts immorally, they aren’t honoring their spouse. This can mean all sorts of mental and physical abuse. If your partner is being immoral. Do ALL you can to help. But if they do not accept your help, divorce may be the only recourse. However, always look for ways to restore before looking for excuses to dissolve.
(P.S. This is from a man who has suffered through divorce. It is never fun or good, but sometimes it is the least painful way to continue to live. If you are in a marriage that is coming between you and a relationship with Christ, divorce may be your only option.)
Prayer- Lord, Help us to look to you as we seek our partners. Be with us as we make our families and help me to build my marriage every day. Go-Fight-Win. Amen.
Viva Jesus!
